Otago Peninsula

Whilst in Dunedin we decided to stay on the Otago peninsula - at a place named Portobello. The drive along the peninsula was interesting - right by the water with no protection and very bendy. It was a small camp site,  but clean and comfy.  The kitchen was a bit small for the number of people trying to use it.  We parked up and went for a walk.

We had chosen this place because there was the Royal Albatross Centre at the end of the peninsula.  Next morning we were off to see it.  We were early.  It was still shut. We waited a while then went in and booked a tour, had a coffee and waited.

After a while we did the hour and half tour and saw albatrosses.  The peninsula used to be heavily fortified in the past and so we also saw a unique fully functioning 'disappearing gun' - I will add links to this at a later time.
